Inspire!

InspireDo you remember the last time you were inspired by someone else? What did that feel like? Think about it for a moment…I am sure it was a great feeling.

As a result of being inspired, you may have been ready to start your own business, run a marathon, fearlessly make a sales call on your biggest prospect or sign up to serve others less fortunate.

We have the ability and opportunity to do the same for others. All of us have the occasion to inspire others to do things that they otherwise may not have attempted.

Here are a few ideas to get you started on your next inspirational opportunity.

Notice the People Around You

If we just take the time to look around us, we will notice people that could use some inspiration. When we focus on them we become more sensitive to what is going on in their life.

We can sense what kind of mood they are in that day. If we listen to what they are telling us and not just their words but their tone as well, we can pick up cues that someone needs a little inspiration.

Be Present

If we are present, we are observant of all that is going on around us. We will see people for who they are since we are not preoccupied with the past or the future. We have thrown out all thoughts except the thoughts of that person in that moment. Alternatively, there may be a situation that we are observing where we can step in, encourage, and inspire.

Listen to People

Sometimes, we just need people to listen to us. As listeners, we do not even have to say anything; we just need to be there with and for the other person. We can listen and then we can respond with empathy to cheer them up. When we do this people will feel respected and heard. Being a good listener can help inspire others, as they get what is on their mind off of it.

Challenge People

Often, what people need once they have vented is to be encouraged. Encourage them first and then challenge them with the next steps. Help them visualize how to get there and what it will feel like when they reach their destination.

We probably know what people are capable of, so let’s not allow them to get off the hook easily. Instead, stir and inspire them to reach their potential.

Here is a video that will inspire you to do something good for someone else. I saw the link on Michael Hyatt’s website.

Relationships are what will make a difference in the quality of our lives. One way to build those relationships is to be a source of inspiration to others. When we inspire we deepen that relationship further because it is simply an act of caring.

What ideas do you have to inspire others to be the best they can be?
